Acorn is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of stairlifts worldwide, with offices in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Germany. Acorn currently manufactures in excess of 50,000 new units per annum and has thousands of satisfied customers worldwide.

Acorn Stairlifts opened their 1st office in Australia in December 2004 and have grown rapidly to become the undisputed market leader across the country.

In 2007 we relocated to larger premises, where we operate from today, in Belrose on Sydney's north shore. From here operate our national call-centre and also maintain extensive stocks of Acorn Stairlifts enabling us to deliver your stairlift needs faster and more competitively than any other supplier.

Acorn are the only stairlift manufacturer to have invested in supplying stairlifts direct to the end-user in Australia, allowing us to make stairlifts much more affordable and accessible to seniors and other customers Australia-wide. Currently we employ more than 30 people across Australia ensuring that we are ready to meet the demands of our many customers, wherever they may be.

From our regional distribution centres in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth & Adelaide we are able to rapidly service our customers in most mainland locations. In other areas we have distributors ready to attend to your needs.

Acorn Stairlifts directly employ their own surveyors and installers, ensuring that the service you receive from us has the benefit of being conducted by fully manufacturer trained and accredited personnel. Our extensive inventory and direct access to the many technical innovations and developments from Acorn's technical and production headquarters in the UK assures our customers of the highest levels of service delivery.

History of Acorn Stairlifts

Acorn Stairlifts was formed in 1992 and the business started by buying, reconditioning and reselling pre-owned stair lifts, as well as buying in new lifts from other manufacturers. Within a very short space of time, demand outstripped supply and we were forced to explore other supply options to maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service levels.

Design an All New Stairlift

The obvious choice for Acorn was to design and manufacture a new stairlift to ensure control over the quality. From this decision, the Acorn Superglide Stairlift was born, soon to become a market leader. To this day, it remains at the forefront of stairlift technology.

The design of the new stairlift was consciously focused on safety, simplicity, ease of installation and simple maintenance. This ultimately 'designed out' many of the shortcomings Acorn had experienced with stairlifts from other manufacturers, while including all the best stairlift features to make our product the best!

Innovative Technology

Acorn Stairlifts pioneered DC (direct current battery) technology in the stairlift industry. This was chosen due to the inherent advantages of safety, smooth power delivery and the ability to operate normally during a mains power failure. Interestingly, all of Acorn's stairlift competitors have followed this lead and now offer a DC product, or have DC powered appliances under development. Such are the advantages of this technology!

Improvements over the years have improved the styling and appearance of the Acorn Stairlift, but the core technology and design principles remain the same - simple, cost-effective mobility solutions

Acorn is the now the largest supplier of directly supplied stairlifts. Acorn currently manufactures in excess of 30,000 new units per annum and has many thousands of customers globally.

In 2007, Acorn acquired Bison Bede stairlifts, another UK based stairlift manufacturer. Bison Bede manufactures one of the most advanced curved rail stairlifts available today. The unique modular rail system means that we can deliver and install your custom built curved rail stairlift in just a week or two, rather than the traditional 3 months delivery time still offered by many of our competitors.
