Good and Bad Food for Arthritis

Did you know that food has the properties in them to help with your arthritis pain! Just simply eating the right foods can lead to you having less pain and inflammation.

What is Arthritis?

Swelling and having tenderness of one or more in the joints is what arthritis is or also known as joint inflammation. It causes stiffness, joint pain, and swelling. It becomes difficult to do everyday things such as walking, bathing, getting dressed, and many more. It usually accrues in the back, hips, and knees but it can happen anywhere in the joints. It can be very painful, if you have it in the knees and hip it can be very difficult to walk up and down the stairs to the point that you might want your own portable stair lift to make it easier to move up and down the stairs anywhere. Some of the different types of arthritis are:

  1. Septic arthritis
  2. Osteoarthritis 
  3. Psoriatic arthritis 
  4. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis 
  5. Reactive arthritis

  • Inflammation in the joints
  • Narrowed range of motion
  • Joint pain
  • Stiffness
  • Warm skin over the joints 

These kinds of symptoms for arthritis are not very pleasant and can make you start looking for something to relieve these symptoms. Handicap stair rails could do the trick in helping take the pressure off your joints but another way to help is by eating the right food to reduce flares.   

What are good foods to eat for arthritis?

You want to eat food that has reducing inflammation properties for this to work. Some of the food that you should start incorporating into your diet are these:

  • Green Tea
  • Broccoli 
  • Berries
  • Pumpkin
  • Carrots
  • Papaya 
  • Citrus fruits
  • Cherries

These foods are great for reducing inflammation which in turn will help with your arthritis. 

What are bad foods to eat for arthritis?

There is certain food you should avoid as instead of reducing inflammation they can add inflammation into the body. These foods are:

  • Processed foods
  • Dairy products
  • Corn
  • Salt
  • Fried foods
  • Alcohol

These kinds of food can lead to your body getting inflammation which can lead to you having a flare of your arthritis that can cause pain in your joints.

If pain continues and it becomes difficult to walk up and down the stairs, there are options to assist you such as getting a stair assist or also known as a stairlift. You should also seek medical help that can inform you on the best actions to take for you. Your pain can be stopping you from doing activities that you care about but take action can help you get back to those activities.
